On December 29, 2025, a master class on Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) was held at the National Scientific Medical Center, based at the Interventional Cardiology Department No. 1, with the participation of physicians from the National Research Cardiac Center.
The purpose of the event was to exchange professional experience and enhance the practical skills of specialists in the field of interventional cardiology.
What is TAVI?
TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) is a high-tech, minimally invasive procedure for adult patients with aortic stenosis, especially those with significant comorbidities.
The procedure is performed using a self-expanding prosthetic valve, which is implanted through the femoral artery without opening the chest, under general anesthesia.
Advantages of the TAVI method:
- High tolerance in elderly and frail patients
- Minimal surgical trauma
- No need for sternotomy (chest opening)
- Reduced risk of postoperative complications
- Shorter rehabilitation and recovery period
After the procedure, patients report a significant improvement in quality of life, including relief from chest pain, syncope, and shortness of breath.
Indications for the procedure:
- Severe aortic stenosis
- Patients for whom open-heart surgery is contraindicated due to age or comorbid conditions
The procedure is performed within the framework of the Compulsory Social Health Insurance (CSHI) program.
A preliminary consultation is required
